Martinelli Pizza Deli

Martinelli 's Entrance
Martinelli Pizza Deli is a pizza parlor located at Osmena St., Ormoc City. If you go inside the pizzeria you will see the Martinelli Speech Center, its an institution known for coaching speech enhancement and development. Both establishments are owned by Edwin Codilla. The place is not that hard to find because its just located within the city. One easy landmark to suggest in order for you to spot the area is its across the Armenia Arena Internet Shop. Very accessible especially to those who are using public transportation.

Last week we went to ormoc to have a badminton match, after a few rounds we got tired and hungry so we decided to look for something to eat. At that time pizza was on top of the list of the food that we craved.

Ormoc has so many pizza parlors to choose from, there's the popular Greenwich Pizza, Alberto's Pizza, Calda's Pizza. But another surprise was a delectable pizza from Martinelli.

Martinelli's receiving counter and their smiling crews
After we track down the place, we were gladly received by the friendly crews and went straight to look for a nice table. I have noticed that the place has modern designed seats and furnitures, a mini decorative fountain which has contributed attraction to the area and it also has warm lighting that added to their excellent ambiance. They also had small playhouse perfect for the kiddos to play with while waiting for the order.

Attractive Menu
Martinelli's pizza deli has a unique recipe using only the finest and premium healthy ingredients in town. Above photo has the list of pizza variants for the customers to choose from. The prices were also very reasonable and affordable. They also had liquid refreshments like soft drinks, coffee, tea and bottled juices that were also cheap.

Refreshments and Price Rates

Fun Hotdog  P148

The Boss All- Meat Fiesta  P248

Bacon Supreme  P208
From their menu we ordered Fun Hotdog - very ideal for kids appetite, Bacon Supreme - all topped with delicious bacon and mozzarella cheese, and The Boss All- Meat Fiesta - best for a stomach the craves ham, bacon, sausage or pepperoni. After a few minutes, our pizzas were all ready to serve. Presentation-wise, they're not cheap with the mozzarella cheese, they put plenty on the top  and it really looked very delectable. The service was quick, the crew made sure that we got all the things we needed.

We had thin crust in our pizza. Fun Hotdog was simply full of delicious hotdog topping and mozarella cheese. Bacon Supreme has a strongly distinctive bacon flavor that made it very tasty and became our favorite. All meat fiesta was also good. I also ordered additional Fun Hotdog for take out. Since we were many we ordered Coke Liter for our drinks but only to find out that they only serve coke in cans, so we decided to buy from the adjacent store outside Martinelli and they just charged us with P50 as a corkage fee.

They claimed that their pizza was made out of whole wheat flour and that they only used Italian olive oil as an oil for their pizza from dough to topping. Well probably its true because it all tasted really delicious. And to provide their regular customers with something new always they intended to continue to innovate more healthy and natural ingredients that would comprise their new recipe. The three pizzas that we ordered tasted all delish and yummy and can be recommended as truly mouth watering. All worth it! Thanks Martinelli Pizza Deli!.. =)

Ocho Seafood and Grill

Ocho Seafood and Grill's frontal view at night

Ocho Seafood and Grill is one of Tacloban's Finest Seafood restaurant. It is located at Senator Enage St., if you happened to pass Department of Foreign Affairs building then you are closer to this food haven. They are open daily to serve you from 10am to 10pm. This restaurant has been committed to provide their customers the best and freshest ingredients that made them the famous seafood spot in town. They also catered their patronizers with varied and most diverse menu.

After we finished all the commitments in the city, we decided to drive around and look for prospective dining area, for someone who had big enthusiasm for food like us, it was really the night to do cuisine exploration. When we arrived at the premises, my impression was that it was like another fancy and expensive restaurant. Illumination was warm and relaxing, the furnitures looked modern and inviting. If you look at the ambiance of the place you'll probably think that you need to be extravagant to eat here. But on the contrary, their price is not that high considering the quick and snappy service that were given by the crew  to us, it was all worth it. They also have provided a little corner for impatient kids to play while waiting for the orders, for the parents advantage it was really a genius idea.

Kid's Corner
When we were ready to order, we went to the counter where all the fresh seafoods were displayed and picked our choices. Their style was we tell them how we want our food done and then they will cook it the way we want. After that, we went back to our table and ordered our drinks. We were so amazed, just 3 mins or less (i guess) right after we made orders, yummy foods came all ready to be serve on our table...wow! We were so not wrong with our decision to stop by and try this restaurant.

So we had grilled pork belly, shells adobo and grilled fish (which were our favorite that night), chopsuey, fish tinola and shells soup(forgot the name of the shell). We also had rice serve in platter.

Shells Adobo
For a second, i thought Shells Adobo looked like stir fryed squid with sauce. But when i examined it closely and tasted it, it was indeed shell's meat with a very flavorful spicy sauce garnish with spring onions on top. Everybody enjoyed this dish.
Grilled Fish
I personally ordered grilled fish because i wanted to eat fish that time. When i tried it, the fish was tender and it was good. It has a distinctive delicious taste that made it special, it also had little portion of stir fryed kangkong as a side dish. Serving size was enough for 2 persons. It was really a must order food in the menu. Grilled pork belly was also good and was cooked perfectly.

Shells Soup

Chopsuey
Fish tinola, shell soup and chopsuey also contributed good taste to complete our appetite. The serving size of each dish could be enough for a family of 4. Overall presentation of their foods, i would rate it with 9/10. Their drinks were also served fast.

Blue Lemonade

Iced Tea, Blue Lemonade, Watermelon and Mango Shake
For a first timer like us to dine here, I should say this restaurant was marvelous. I like that our food was prepared properly and was not hurriedly done like most busy restaurants. The service was fast and good since our food were served within a reasonable time. Aside from the good food, the place was intimate and comfortable and ambiance was great. I would certainly recommend this restaurant if you want  to go out on a family date or if you want to bond with friends in a delectable way. An experience worth remembering and another place worth exploring! Thanks Ocho Seafood and Grill! =)

Tempura Haus

Tempura Haus facade

Tempura Haus is a Japanese restaurant located at Badminton City, Brgy. Linao, Ormoc. Just a few minutes drive from the city.  But for us who are not familiar with this restaurant, finding the place really gave us a hard time. We had to ask a couple of street bystanders to finally locate the spot.

View inside the restaurant

When we arrived at the place a charming waitress welcomed us with a big smile. My first impression was that it was an exclusive and expensive restaurant but after the waitress handed us the menu surprisingly the prices were very affordable. Though the place looked quite small for a restaurant, it could probably just accommodate less than 50 people and its a little hidden, but there was something special in this place that made its ambiance unique.

They serve Bento, Maki, Sushi, Tofu, Tempura, Ramen, Shogayaki, Sashimi, Donburi, Noodles, and also Desserts. Seeing their menu would really give you a hard time figuring out what to order first. So, we ordered 2 kinds of Maki (California Maki, Futomaki and French Maki). California Maki was delicious, just a little bit soury if you intended to squeeze the lemon too much. French Maki and Futomaki became my favorites. They tasted a little bit sweet but very flavorful. Just right for my taste buds. Surely, i will order it again if i will come back next time. We also ordered Maguro and Kani Sushi, its a tuna sushi, the taste is just fine nothing extraordinary. Probably because i wasn't used to eating it yet. Kani is a crab sushi. It tasted delicious as well.

California Maki  P98
(Crab, Mango, Lettuce, Mayonnaise and Shrimp Roe)
French Maki  P95
(Shrimp tempura and Teriyaki sauce)

Futomaki  P65
( Crab, Egg, Cucumber)
Maguro Sushi  P58
(Tuna)
Kani Sushi
(Crab)
Of course we did not miss ordering the Bento and Donburi, we had Mixed Seafoods Bento and Tempura and Sashimi Bento. Both were delicious and served in just the right sizes. For donburi,we had Teri Teriyaki Don. Its chiken in teriyaki sauce topped on plain rice. Very appetizing, i really enjoyed the dish. They also serve drinks and we just had iced tea.

Mixed Seafoods Bento  P139
(Ebi, Ika and Tuna in Teppan Sauce and Moyashi Itame)

Tori Teriyaki Don  P69
In the end, searching for this restaurant was really worth it.  Its not just that their food were not too pricey, they also serve many other dishes with delish flavors that are yet to be tasted by us when we come back again. A surely must come food spot with great ambiance. We were really satisfied with all the dishes that we consumed and we left the premises with full belly. Thanks Tempura Haus. =)
